A documentary highlighting the project “Nandini”, an initiative by the NGO Literacy India for providing basic eduction and vocational training to the school drop outs especially girls, from the rural sectors of India.
Empowering minds is a short documentary based on the lives of children whose childhood is lost on the streets of metropolitan cities. The physical, mental and the emotional well-being of these children gets badly impaired. Literacy India’s largesse gave them a second chance to alter their life for the better. The children featuring in this documentary have benefitted immensely and plenty of opportunities today knocks at their doorstep.
The documentary “19 years of Transforming Lives” was shot for literacy India which marks 20 years of its existence and portrays its hard work and contribution in renewing the lives of many underprivileged and deprived souls, by imparting them basic primary education and variety of other vocational skills in performing arts, computer, animation and tailoring. Thousands of people have got a new lease of life. They too can dream and prosper.
A Docudrama and an instructional film shot for Literacy India. Udaan serves multiple purposes, it highlights the plight and ordeal of women of rural India and it also brings forth the spirit of the same women who single-handedly or in conjunction with some external assistance can realise their dreams. Udaan talks about women upliftment and their empowerment that can be a source of inspiration for other women.
Project Karigari was started by Literacy India to provide a platform for vocational training to school dropout and those who lack in studies. The Karigari program has for several years a traditional approach covering training programs for cutting and tailoring etc. This documentary film brings to the light the oppression the young girls and women of India face. It depicts as to how these unfortunate beings breaks all the barriers and shackles and forces their way out to success from the confinement of their homes, to learn tailoring, become self-independent and educate others for their bright future so that the others do not have to face what they had to.
This short film was shot exclusively on cell phone. It showcases the real life scenario where child labour still prevails in the society. A child who at this age should be going to the school to attain his primary education is compelled to work to earn a living for himself and his family members.
